Program Introduction

Photonics is essentially a fusion of optics with electronics and basically it encompasses Lasers, Fiber optics, Photonic Devices, Photonic Sensors, Light Sources, Displays and Optical Computing. Photonics promises to be a technology of future and it will certainly contribute its role in the progress of several fields such as medicine, industry, defense, entertainment and computing.

Program Highlights

The academic structure of M.Sc. Physics (Photonics) program of MIT WPU allows the student to have an equally poised career in Physics as well as and Photonics.
The course is highly interdisciplinary and is a perfect blend of academia, industry and research The course introduces several industry-oriented and High-Tech courses (regular and elective) such as Lasers, Electronics, Holography, Fiber Optics, Photonic Devices and Sensors, Microwave Photonics, Nano-photonics, Bio-photonics, Optoelectronics, Industrial Photonics (refer course structure)
The course takes in to account, the latest trends in Physics and Photonics at national as well as international level The course is strengthened with an appropriate balance of theory, lab and project components.
A mega-project of 10 credits in the 5th and 6th Trimester gives an opportunity to the students to have a hand-on experience at industry and/or research level.
